Bennett, Ruth A. Ruth A. Bennett, age 87 of Hesperia, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at her sons home. Ruth was born the 10th of 11 children on October 1, 1920 in Mears, Michigan to Ole and Alma (Thorson) Pearson. She met Charles Bennett in 1944 and they married on April 20, 1945 in South Haven, Michigan. Ruth attended Central State College and later graduated from Western Michigan University with a teaching degree. Ruth taught elementary education at Batham School in Oceana County, Reeman School, Brookside School, and later retired from Cedar Street Schools after 18 years of teaching with the Fremont Public Schools. Ruth and Chuck spent their winter retirement years in Florida where Ruth enjoyed playing the organ and playing the piano for the mens quartet and holiday concerts in their retirement village and also served as secretary for the park for several years. Ruth was a member of Farm Bureau and assisted on the Bennett Family Farm for many years as well. She was also a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church since 1946. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles of Hesperia; her sons, Alan (Carol) Bennett of Grand Rapids; Dave (Pat) Bennett of Fremont; 6 grandchildren, Anne (Ken) Momany of Belding; Laura (Jan) Fair of Grand Rapids; Daniel (Laura) Bennett of Portland, Oregon; Aaron (Leslie) Bennett of Fremont; Sarah Bennett of Chicago, Illinois; Jane (Reggie) Ignash of Sebewaing, Michigan; special grand daughter, Amber (Dave) Terakedis of Tennessee; 10 great grandchildren; special nephew, Jerry (Sue) Woller; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 12, 2007 from the Fremont United Methodist Church with Rev. Carolin Spragg presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
