Ruth M. Griffin, age 82 of Fremont, passed away Saturday evening, March 16, 2013 at the Fountain View Retirement Village in Fremont. Ruth was born on March 1, 1931 in Zurich, Switzerland to Oscar S. and Martha I. Hengaertner and immigrated to the United States in 1956 where she became a naturalized United States Citizen in 1963. Ruth met and married Jack C. Griffin on December 29, 1959 in Ball Harbor, Florida and Jack preceded her in death on January 2, 2003. Ruth had worked as a sales clerk in Switzerland and a hostess in New York and eventually became a sales representative for Fuller Brush in Michigan where she worked until her retirement. Ruth and Jack moved to Fremont in 1960 where she was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fremont, had been a Red Cross Grey Lady for many years and enjoyed golfing and skiing. Ruth is survived by her step children, Gay Risenborough and Wendy Griffin; her sister, Elizabeth Kagi in Switzerland; her brother, Piero Hengaertner of Switzerland; her niece, Gabriella Sun of Switzerland; special friends, Joe and Siria Pinnick of Fremont. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 10:30 am at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fremont following cremation. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fremont.
