Johnson, Ruth M. Ruth M. Johnson, age 80 of Newaygo, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2003 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont . She was born on October 15, 1923 in Muskegon to Edward and Esther (Carlson) Buckhout and later married Earl Johnson on March 28, 1964 in Muskegon . She has been a resident of Newaygo County since 1984 when she moved from Muskegon . She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Fremont and enjoyed collecting Teddy Bears. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Earl of Newaygo; her children, William P. (Mary) Shields of Newaygo; Robert L. Shields of Newaygo; Ruth Ann Shields (Jerry) Brookham of Texas; Lena Gay Shields (Ron) Kurtzhal of Newaygo; Dianna Marie Shields Medema of Texas; David A. Shields of Newaygo; Brenda Johnson Dougan of Grand Rapids; Ronald L. (Anna) Johnson of Muskegon; Donald L. (Marsha) Johnson of Hesperia; Judy Lynn (Chuck) Johnson of Muskegon; Darlene June (Matt) Mallard of Muskegon; Larry (Merilee) Johnson of Muskegon; Elizabeth Ann (Wayne) Milliron of Muskegon; many grandchildren, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Shields on December 31, 1999 and her brothers, Harry Buckhout and Edward Buckhout. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 3, 2003 from the Faith Baptist Church in Fremont with Rev. Steven Tipmore of the Faith Baptist Church presiding with interment in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon .
