Ruth Ellen Laisure, age 94, of Newaygo passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at Transitional Health Services in Fremont. She was born on July 8, 1905, in Wilshire, Ohio, to Alexander and Laura (Moyer) Johnston and married Ora H. Laisure Sr. on November 23, 1921. She was a member of the WWI Veterans Auxiliary. She is survived by her sons Ora (Ellen) Laisure of Grant and Jack (Pat) Laisure of Hesperia; daughters Gladys (Laurence) Dykman of Fremont, Joyce Rottman of Moline, Dorothy (James) Murphy of Newaygo, and Donna (Don) Eaton of Newaygo; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great great-grandchildren; brother Floyd Johnston of Branch, Michigan; sister-in-laws Mary Johnston of Branch, Pearl Johnston of Arizona, Clara Johnston of Ludington, Eleanor Johnston of Ludington, and Jessie Laisure of Dunlap, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband Ora Sr.; daughter Grace; brothers Harry, William, Cloyd, and Roland Johnson; sister Dora Smalley; and son-in-law Jay Rottman. Services were held on Saturday January 29, 2000, from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in White Cloud.
