Ruth Arlene Welch, age 72, of Hesperia, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Spectrum Health Services Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids. Ruth was born on September 25, 1937, in Grayling, Michigan, to Robert and Nora (Loper) Bancroft, and was a Registered Nurse in the West Michigan Area. Ruth enjoyed music, puzzles, cooking for her family, and fishing on the river. Ruth is survived by her children, Janene Jen (John) Wiggins of Virginia, Lisa Patton of Hesperia, Walter Scott of Hesperia; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers and sister, Paul (Evon) Bancroft of California, Ed Bancroft of Newaygo, Walt Bancroft of White Cloud, Tim (Linda) Bancroft of Hesperia, Louis (Jan) Bancroft of Hart, Tony (Debbie) Bancroft of California, and Faith Bancroft of California; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby, sister, Anna Mae, and son, Archie Welch. There will be private family services at a later time.
