Sadie Elizabeth Westgate, age 104 of Big Prairie Township, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Sadie was born on January 7, 1912 in Big Prairie Township to William and Edith (Munson) Aishe and later married Edgar A. Eddie Westgate on November 4, 1931 in Big Prairie Township. Eddie preceded her in death in August 1974. Sadie was a member of the Big Prairie Community Church and was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan. In her younger years, Sadie enjoyed gardening with vegetables and later with just her flowers. Sadie is survived by her children, Donald (Sue) Westgate of Brooklyn, Michigan; Rodney Westgate of Newaygo; Ray (Carolyn) Westgate of Newaygo; Edna Wood of Newaygo; Robert (Linda) Westgate of Newaygo; Thomas (Sandy) Westgate of Newaygo; Ida Krueger of Newaygo; 32 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; her son-in-laws, Leon Staples of Newaygo; Elon Howe of Newaygo; her daughter-in-law, Peggy Westgate; her sister, Felma Gardiner of Muskegon. Sadie was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Eddie Westgate; her children, Lois Staples, Marion Dosch, Wilma Jean Howe, Mary Evelyn Howe, Gladys Reickard Boucher; Barbara Jane Portz; Basil A. Westgate; Richard E. Westgate; and Arthur Westgate. VISITATION : Friday, February 5, 2016 from 3-6pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel (1109 Court Street White Cloud MI 49349) FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel.
