Sam R. Stenberg, age 67, of Hesperia passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Great Lakes Specialty Hospital in Muskegon. Sam was born on March 24, 1947 in Muskegon to Richard Douglas and Junbelle (Cripe) Stenberg and married Pamela Japenga on September 13, 1968 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Sam was in the Navy and served his Country in Vietnam. Following his service, he worked at Muskegon Piston Ring for over 17 years and later for Grand Transformers in Grand Haven. He was a member of the White Cloud Eagles, Hesperia American Legion Post #411, and life member of White Lake VFW Post #3256. Sam enjoyed yard sales, camping, hunting, and fishing.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Pam; children, Paula Johnson of Shelby, and Shawn (Julie) Stenberg of Holland; 7 grandchildren, Kinsey, Haley, Mason, Jaycee, Katelyn, Catherine, and Addison; sister-in-law, Gay Stenberg of Twin Lake; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his brother, Fred Stenberg.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 11AM until 1 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont with interment following at West Hesperia Cemetery. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider the Hesperia American Legion or White Lake VFW.
