Obituary

Stitt II, Rev. Sam J. Rev Sam J. Stitt II, age 87 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2006 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Sam was born on November 8, 1919 in Hesperia to Samuel James and Sara Freelove (Warner) Stitt. On May 25, 1938 he married Jewel LaVern Zeckzer in Muskegon. Sam had been a carpenter and a non-denominational pastor, pioneering several churches and served as a evangelist missionary in the Caribbean. Sam enjoyed fixing anything and everything and also worked in the logging industry and barn restoration with his sons. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He is survived by his loving, dedicated wife of 68 years, Jewel of Fremont; his sister, Lola (Bert) Cirner; his children, James Patrick (Olivia) Stitt of Hesperia; Ron (Pauline) Stitt of Holton; Terry (Shirley) Stitt of Three Rivers, Michigan;. Bert (Linda) Stitt, Madison, Wisconsin; Karon (Jim) Schwartz of Centreville, Michigan;. Nancy (Ervin) Miller of Purvis, Mississippi; Samuel James (Peggy) Stitt III of Hesperia; Leah (Robert) Antoniewicz of Deerbrook, Wisconsin; Michael (Chris) Stitt of Willow, Alaska. and Esther (George) Davis. Fremont; 33 grand children; 54 great grand children, and 7 great great grand children; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Horace (Eunice) Stitt); Percy (A Donna) Stitt; five sisters, Myrtle (Delbert) McClaren, Rachel (Earl) Tyler, Ruth (John) Talmadge, Blanch (Otis) Burley, Eva (Robert) Smith; one son-in-law, Ervin (Nancy) Miller and one grandson, David (Melissa Stitt) Ackerberg. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with interment in the West Hesperia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider the Villa Maniero Mexican Ministries for memorial contributions in memory of Sam.
