Hills, Samuel F. Samuel F. Hills, age 88 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 in White Cloud. Sam was born on October 2, 1918 in Hesperia to George and Hattie (Shaver) Hills and later married Carol Kemmerling on March 8, 1957 in Fremont. Sam had worked at the Gerber Products Company in Fremont in the maintenance department for many years until his retirement in 1979. Sam was also a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army. He also was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Carol of Fremont; his sons, Warren (Pam) Hills of Big Rapids; Dale Hills of Fremont; 2 grandsons, Thomas (Caroline) Hills and their son, Finn Hills of Traverse City; Daniel (Whitney) Hills of Palm Springs, California; brothers-in-law, Bud Kemmerling and Ray Kemmerling; sister-in-law, Shirley Tibbitts; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Rose & Bob Hekkema; Al Struble; Doug Frens, Troy Knapp. He was preceded in death his brothers and sisters, John, Angie, Vernie, Ruth, Jesse, and Lila, and Elvira. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Rev. Larry Wood of the Fremont United Methodist Church presiding with interment in the Sherman Township Cemetery. Friends may consider Special Olympics Area 21 for memorial contributions in memory of Sam.
