Sandra "Sandy" D. Pickett, age 83 of Grand Rapids, formerly of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Clark Retirement Home in Grand Rapids. Sandy was born on April 10, 1939 in Pontiac to Lester E. and Alma R. (Davenport) Patton and graduated from Waterford High School. Sandy later met and married James M. Pickett on August 23, 1957 in Drayton Plains, Michigan. Jim preceded her in death on December 5, 2006. Sandy and Jim moved to the Fremont area in 1962 where Sandy had been a sales associate at Big Wheel for several years until her retirement. Sandy was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church where she had participated in the choir for many years, served as Chaplain and been active in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Sandy is survived by her children, James L. Pickett of Ionia, Michigan; Jeffrey A. (Tina) Pickett of New London, North Carolina; John E. (Beth Brandt) Pickett of Muskegon; her grandchildren, Jane Jedlick, James Pickett; Shantel Tinger; Adam Tinger; James N. (Casey) Pickett the 5th; Allen M. Pickett; 12 great great grandchildren; her brother, Darrell E. Patton of Hesperia; sister, Karen K. Price of Grand Rapids: many nieces and nephews. A memorial service and time of remembrance will be held at the Clark Retirement Home in Grand Rapids at a later date. Burial will take place in Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews, North Carolina on the family grave site. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Emmanuel Hospice in memory of Sandy.
