Sara "Sally" LeDora (Duckworth) Carlson, age 88 of White Cloud, Michigan, formerly of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial in Fremont, MI. Sally was born October 14, 1932 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Paul and Erla (Clegg) Duckworth. She was a 1950 graduate of Doylestown High School where she met and later married James E. Carlson on February 16, 1952 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. James preceded her in death on January 14, 2004 after 51 years of marriage. Sally and Jim lived in Doylestown, PA until 1973 when the family moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan. Years later Sally and Jim retired to Hesperia, MI where they built a lovely country home that was enjoyed for many years by the extended family. Sally clerked for several years at the Fremont Rite Aid. Sally truly loved life, loved her family and loved to laugh. In Chalfont, PA she was a well-remembered and loved Brownie leader. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a self-taught organist at many of their meetings. Sally loved nature and the beauty of all flowers and wildlife. She was extremely creative and crafted beautiful pieces making dried flower arrangements, Christmas ornaments and wreaths, jewelry, cards and little sewn bears. Sally loved to watch the deer, turkeys and assorted birds from her room where she lived the last several years with her daughter Gloria Sevener and husband David. Sally is survived by her loving daughters, Sara Carlson of Benton Harbor; Gloria (David) Sevener of White Cloud; Nancy Peterson of Fremont; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; her sister, Polly Harris and stepmother Josephine Duckworth. Many nieces and nephews also mourn the passing of Aunt Sally. Sally was loved by so many who will miss her stories, the twinkle in her eye and the honor of her presence. Following Sally's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
