Scott DeJager, age 54 of Newaygo, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Scott was born on September 24, 1967 in East Grand Rapids to John and Helen (Geers) DeJager and graduated from Grant High School in 1986. Scott joined the United States Army after high school and served until his honorable discharge. Scott married Camilla Zimmerman on July 21, 2000 in White Cloud. He had worked at the Nestle Waters Division in warehouse logistics for several years. Scott was one of the founding members of the Amvets Riders of Newaygo and was a member of the Amvets of Newaygo, member of the Newaygo VFW Sportman's Post #4249; member of the White Cloud Eagles; enjoyed motorcycle riding; golfing, boating, watching all types of sports; and traveling to St. Pete Beach in Florida to enjoy the sunshine and beaches. Scott is survived by his wife, Cami of Newaygo; step children, Eric Roach of Newaygo; Whitni (Cody Berg) Roach and their daughter, Ariah Berg of Newaygo; his parents, John and Helen DeJager of Cedar Springs; his mother-in-law, DeDe Zimmerman of Newaygo; sister, Tammy (Dan) Evans of White Cloud; brother, Tim DeJager of Charleston, West Virginia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by his grandfather, Henry Geers and by his father-in-law, Sam Zimmerman Jr. VISITATION : Friday, October 29, 2021 from 1pm – 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412 with MILITARY HONORS given at 2pm under the auspices of the Newaygo VFW Sportsman's Post and United States Army Honor Guard.
