Scott Ellis "The Widdler" Smith, age 56 of Hesperia, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at his daughter Cheyanne's home surrounded by his family. Scott was born on March 5, 1964 in Shelby to George Ellis and Margaret Elaine (Pider) Smith and later married Wendy Smith on July 12, 1985 in White Cloud. Scott has been a lifelong resident of the Hesperia area where he had been a self employed construction worker and auto mechanic. Scott enjoyed mudding in his truck, was an accomplished wood carver, enjoyed stargazing, hunting, being in the Michigan outdoors and enjoyed working on, restoring and fixing cars and trucks. Scott was always available to help his family and friends as there was never a job he wasn't willing to help with. Scott is survived by his wife, Wendy of Hesperia; his children, David (Shanny) Smith; Timothy (Jackie Pulsipher) Vickers; Cheyanne (Christopher) Damrow; Carissa (Roger) Minzey; Ashley (Jim) Holden; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Sammy Ritzema; Sid (Vonda Carr) Smith; Robert (Dawn) Smith; Tim (Tina Gibson) Smith; Jeff (Sue Sweet) Smith; George (Tammy) Smith; Cindy Smith; Peggy (Scott) Jordan; Paula (Tony) Rader; Pamela (Stephen) Lund; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Smith; a "son" Andrew John Barton Buzzell; father, Ralph Mink; James Guiher; stepmother, Linda K. Smith and many other family members.
