Scott Gabriel Smith, age 38 of Hesperia and formerly of San Diego, California, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Scott was born on August 24, 1979 in Poway, California to Kenneth Vernon and Denise Marie Smith Jr. and later married Audrey Williams. Scott grew up in Poway, California and joined the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) as an Aviation Ordnance man. Scott moved to the Hesperia area in 2017 and had worked in the construction industry. Scott was an avid outdoorsman, loving to be with family and friends while fishing, hiking, hunting or cliff diving. Most of all, Scott loved to share his love of life around a campfire and a beer. Scott is survived by his wife, Audrey; and his daughter, Ryann of California; his mother Denise Marie of California; his brothers and sisters, Michael Logue; Brett Smith; and Dylan Grimsey all of California; Laurie Johnson of Arizona; Terry Miller; Tammy Schneider; Jamie McAree; Sara McAree and Sheryl Baron of Michigan. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth V. Smith Jr. in 1997. Private services will be held at a later date in Michigan and California.
