Obituary

Sharon Yvonne Pierce, 74, of Grand Rapids, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ March 31, 2014. She born April 25, 1939 to Martha and Wallace Pierce in Flint MI. She fought a long and courageous battle against cancer and has won the fight! She is healed, happy and whole at the feet of Jesus.

Sharon is survived by her three children, Billy (Vickie) Bird, Bob (Gail) Bird, and Yvonne (Jim) Johnson; three sisters, Nola (Gus) Mathison, Betty Morris, and Helen (Gary) Goddard.

The lights and loves of her life were her grandchildren, Andrew and Vanessa Johnson and Ben and Katie Bird. She adored each one and enjoyed watching soccer, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, gymnastics and dance recitals. She was their number 1 fan. Sharon blessed others with her card and prayer ministry for many years. Always a tender heart toward those in need, she sent out oodles and oodles of cards over the years and countless prayers.

A special thank you to Bill and Dianne Bird (father of the children), Jerry and Marsha Laninga, along with her guardian angel neighbors Sharon and Mavis, for their on-going love and support. Another special appreciation to Fellowship Bible Class at Calvary Church, especially Don and Cheryl Matheny, Jerry and Joanne Ward (cousins). You have been her church family and a blessing to her.

Memorial service will be Friday, April 4 at 11 am at Calvary Church, 707 East Beltline in Grand Rapids. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm, Thursday, April 3 and again at 10 am on Friday prior to the service at Calvary Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to the Calvary Church benevolent fund (www.calvarygr.org). Friends may share memories and condolences online at crandellfh.com. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain. All of that is gone forever. Rev. 21:4 (The Living Bible). Well done, good and faithful Sharon. Welcome home!
