IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharrie Dawn
(Lee) Messner
January 21, 1937 – May 28, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharrie Dawn (Lee) Messner, age 88, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025. Born on January 21st, 1937, in Muskegon, Michigan, Sharrie lived a life rich with love, devotion, and community spirit, touching the lives of everyone she met.
A resident of Hesperia, Michigan, Sharrie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony "Tony" Messner, of Hesperia, MI. Her legacy lives on through her children; Anthony (Sally) Messner Jr. of Muskegon, Michigan, Denise (John) Dill of Fremont, Michigan, Julia (James) Starr of Lenexa, Kansas, Joseph (Heather) Messner of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Amy (Mark) McKeown of Hesperia, Michigan. Sharrie was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Magdalene Lee, Sharrie was also the cherished sister to siblings Bill Lee, Nancy Gordon, Albert Lee, Art Lee, Robert Lee, Virginia Wilson, Betty Ellison, Donna Hunt, Mary Dryer, and John Lee.
Sharrie was a dedicated homemaker but had other forms of employment as well in industries such as clothing, sales, and manufacturing. Sharrie enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting. Her hands were rarely still, and her quilts warmed many hearts and homes. A talented pianist, she often filled her home with music. Gardening was another passion, and Sharrie took great pride in nurturing her colorful blooms and vegetable patches. More than anything, she cherished time with her grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives. Sharrie also had an unwavering love for animals that extended to the pets she adored and cared for throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sharrie's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Newaygo County Compassion Home.
