Sheila Marie Gibson, age 81, of Fremont passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019, in Fremont. Sheila was born on December 11, 1938, in Fremont to Joseph and Mary M. (Feller) Purcell and married Robert William Gibson on March 20, 1956, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo. Sheila had worked at General Motors for over 15 years and also worked at Newaygo Marine and was a real estate agent. She loved to read and enjoyed sewing, history and traveling in the Upper Peninsula. Sheila is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Shawn (Deb) Gibson of Hesperia, Steven (Mary) Gibson of Fremont, Brian (Kim) Gibson of Grand Rapids, Brendon Gibson of Fremont, and Stacie (Dawn) Gibson of Lansing; grandchildren, Eric (Loretta) Gibson, Marielle Gibson, Colton Gibson, Zane Gibson, Nicole (Jonathan) Stafford, Joseph (Cruz) Gibson, Cooper Gibson, and Kennedy Gibson; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Logan, and Liam; brothers and sisters, Patricia Culver of Newaygo, Dennis (Dorothy) Purcell of Fremont, Brian (Sue) Purcell of Newaygo, Kevin Purcell of Newaygo, and Martina Manor of Newaygo; many nieces and nephews; dear friend Delores Cook; brother-in-law, Robert Hallberg; and sister-in-law, Katie Purcell. She was preceded in death by brother, Stan Purcell; sister, Rita Hallberg; brother-in-law, James Manor. A Celebration of Life Open House for Sheila will be held from 1:30 - 4:00 PM on Saturday December 28, 2019 at the Stone Lodge in Fremont (4465 W 48th Street Fremont, MI 49412). For a more lasting memorial friends are asked to consider the Hesperia Community Food Pantry. Interment will be in Seaman Cemetery in Grant.
