Shirley Ann Chrispell, age 78, of Hesperia passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016, at her home with her family by her side. Shirley was born on December 2, 1937, in Petoskey to Ralph and Mary Ruth (Veenstra) VanHouten. Shirley later married Maxwell D. Chrispell on December 31, 1992, in Newaygo. Shirley had worked in the engineering and development department at General Electric in Holland for over 27 years. She enjoyed crocheting, hiking, fishing, and traveling with her loving husband Max. Shirley was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church. Shirley is survived by her husband, Max; daughter, Twila (Brett) Krick of Sarasota, Florida; stepchildren, Melanie Mason of Holland, Terri Lynn Chrispell of Holland, and Daniel Duane Chrispell of Muskegon; 2 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and brother, Robert VanHouten of Holton. She was preceded in death by sisters, Jeanette Vanderhulst and Joann Conway; and brother, John VanHouten. A memorial service celebrating Shirleys life will be held at 3 PM on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the White Cloud United Methodist Church with Pastor Ed Snook officiating.
