Shirley Lee Maat, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5th, 2025, at the age of 89. Shirley was a cherished resident of Fremont, MI and was born on June 17th, 1935, in Hesperia, Michigan. Shirley's career as a beautician brought joy to many, and her passions for crafting, gardening, birds, and flowers were known to all who knew her. She was a long-time, devoted member of the Lake Community Bible Church, where her faith and community spirit enriched many lives.

A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Shirley's legacy lives on through her children: Laurel Maat, Mary (Jeff) Hale, James (Annette) Maat, and Karl Maat. She was a proud grandmother to Jason Frantz, Derek Frantz, Christopher Baughan, Andrew Maat, Steven Maat, Robert Hale, and Megan Maat, and a loving great-grandmother to Lyllie Baughan, William Maat, and David Maat. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving spouse, Almer Maat; her children, Jayne Baughan and Everett Maat, her parents, Charles and Muriel Eileen (Norris) DeLong; and her siblings Charles DeLong, Vionne James, Margorie DeLong, Elaine Roberson, Maxine Annis, and Everett DeLong.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, at Crandell Funeral Homes Inc., Fremont, MI. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Shirley will be laid to rest during a graveside service at East Hesperia Cemetery, Hesperia, MI, at 1:30 pm the same day. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Lake Community Bible Church, a cause that was near and dear to Shirley's heart. Arrangements have been entrusted  to Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont.
