Shirley Ann Hooker, age 87 of White Cloud, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Shirley was born on October 2, 1932 in Fremont to Harry and Gertrude (Ridderman) Hooker and later graduated from White Cloud High School. Shirley began working at the Newaygo County Clerk's office in White Cloud at an early age under the direction of the then county clerk, Harry Hooker, her father and later became the Deputy County Clerk for Newaygo County, a position she held for many years until her retirement in 1988. Shirley was a member of the Christian Life Center Church in Fremont and enjoyed playing cards, doing word search puzzles and was always willing to give of her time to her family and friends. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Kathy Fend of Fremont; her grandchildren, Derek Fend of Mount Pleasant, Michigan; Dana (Malcolm) Martin of Clare; her great grandson, Zurlon Martin; her sister, Donna (Leon) McGowen of White Cloud; her brother, Chuck (Nannette) Hooker of White Cloud; her nephew, Steve Hooker of White Cloud; brother-in-law, Melvin Rayman of Virginia Beach, Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rory Fend; her sisters, Joan Koomen, Nancy Rayman and Judy Hester; brother-in-laws, Ed Hester and Wayne Koomen.
