Shirley Ann (Shepherd) Brooks, age 89 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at her home. Shirley was born on November 21, 1931 in Newaygo, Michigan to William and Margaret (Morrison) Kritzer. She graduated from Newaygo High School in 1949 and later graduated from Howell School of Business. Shirley married Wayne Shepherd in 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Sid Brooks in 1972and he preceded her in death in 1987. Shirley had worked at the Gerber Products Company as a secretary for many years until her retirement and has been a lifelong resident of the area. Shirley was a member of the First Congregational Church in Fremont where she had been an active volunteer, served on many boards and committees within the church and had been active in the Women's Fellowship. Shirley also volunteered her time at the Fremont Library, Newaygo Museum, enjoyed scrapbooking, family history and was a member of the D.A.R. Shirley is survived by her children, Dianna (Franklin) Force of Grattan; Lyle (Holly) Shepherd of Grand Rapids; Pat (Richard) Hamacher of Grand Rapids; her grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Redfern; Sara Shepherd; Vaughan (Jen) Force; Christine (John) Tucker; Lisa (Chris) Poturalski; Rena (Andrew) Saltzman; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Nelson and Laura "Jean" Ollmann.
