Shearer, Smith Smith Shearer, age 83 of Newaygo, passed away Saturday at his home. Smith was born on February 20, 1922 in Alabama to Willie and Betty (Booth) Shearer and had been a shoemaker for many years. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley C. (Donald) Hicks of Newaygo; 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rose Jackson of Birmingham, Alabama; Jessie L. Hamilton of Birmingham, Alabama; 2 brothers, Norman Shearer of Cleveland, Ohiol Thomas (Sandra) Shearer of Cleveland, Ohio; host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 5, 2005 from The Glory Of The Latter House Ministries in White Cloud with Pastor Jeffrey Murchison presiding with interment in the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery.
