Sophie L. Wright, age 95 of Fremont, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Sophie was born on May 7, 1920 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania to Felix B. and Helen (Brylka) Balzak and moved to Detroit in 1922. Sophie married Paul Coons and he preceded her in death. She later married Harold M. Wright and he preceded her in death. Sophie moved to the Fremont area in 1975 and had been a social worker at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility for 20 years until her retirement in 1984. Sophie had been an active member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont for many years and held various positions with within the church. Sophie was also known for her collection of frog figurines, pins and statues. Sophie is survived by her children, Paul C. (Phyllis) Coons of Newaygo; Carol Ann (Ron) Town of Ketchikan, Alaska; stepson, Robert (Jessie) Coons of Cottonwood, Arizona; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; her niece, Linda Kay of Oxford, Michigan; stepsons, Terry Wright and Tracy Wright; and many distant cousins; her son-in-law, Gary Crispin. Sophie was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Jean Crispin on May 7, 2009. VISITATION : Monday, January 4, 2016 from 3-5 at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. SCRIPTURE SERVICES : Monday, January 4, 2015 at 5pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. MASS OF RESURRECTION: Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church (500 Iroquois Drive Fremont MI 49412). INTERMENT : Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery near Fremont. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital in memory of Sophie.
