Obituary

Stanley H. Stroven, age 90, of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 15th in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born April 9, 1910, in Fremont. A life long resident of Fremont he was an active civic community leader and member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. Stan had been active in 4-H, United Way, Boy Scouts, was a charter member of the Fremont Rotary Club, and a board member for Camp Echo YMCA. He was also involved in the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Newaygo County Parks Commission, and Foreign Student Exchange Program. He worked at Gerber Products Company then farmed the family farm before he started Greenwood Farms Dairy. His first wife Dorothy preceded him in death on October 18, 1985. He married Shirley Harmon on November 28, 1992, in Fremont. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Fremont; daughter, Susan (Douglas) Seator of Sunriver, OR.; 3 step-daughters, Jan (Douglas) Rasmussen of Kalamazoo, MI., Barbara (Raul) Jimenez of Brownsville, TX, and Margie (Brian) Nyman of Seattle, WA.; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Mooy of Thorpe, England; grand daughter Anne Seator of Beijing, China; sister, Katherine Holley of Fremont; brother, Keith (Margaret) Stroven of Fremont; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son William Stroven in 1968 and grandson Scott Seator in 1996. Memorial services were held on Saturday, October 21, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. at The Fremont United Methodist Church of Fremont. For a more lasting memorial, friends and family may consider The Fremont Area Foundation Endowment Fund For The Fremont United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont.
