Stephen James Jeschke, age 79 of Fremont, Michigan and formerly of Mishawaka, Indiana and St. Joseph, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at his home. Steve was born on October 1, 1943 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Emil Richard and Ida Martha (Reich) Jeschke and graduated from St. Joseph High School. Steve joined the United States Army Reserve and was called to active duty during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. Steve later began a career in the automotive industry, working in the Purchasing Dept. of company's to include Bendix of St. Joseph, Michigan and ultimately retiring from AM General South Bend, Indiana. Steve loved all types of sports. As an adult he played softball for many years and was a long time Chicago Cubs fan. Steve also enjoyed cars, taking immaculate care of his vehicles throughout his lifetime. Steve is survived by his loving daughter, Kym (Robert Byrne) Jeschke of Newaygo; son, Todd (Jackie) Jeschke of Marshall, Michigan; his brother, Rex (Judy) Jeschke of Minnesota; and many loving friends. Following Steve's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. Friends may consider memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
