August 30, 1951 – January 13, 2024
Stephen D. Rosencrans, age 72 of Hesperia, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at his home. Stephen was born on August 30, 1951 in Muskegon and graduated from Fremont High School in 1969. Stephen met and later married Brenda Ferris on November 1, 1975 in Hesperia. Stephen has been a lifelong resident of the area and had worked at Misco, had owned and operated his own auto body shop in Hesperia, and later worked for Smith Propane in Fremont until his retirement as dispatcher for Amerigas. After retirement, Stephen took up a hobby that turned into his second career as a taxidermist and assisted many hunters in the area with European mounts.
Stephen was an active member of the Ferry Wesleyan Church where he served as Treasurer for over 30 years and Trustee for several more years. Stephen lived his life guided by the scripture passage of Psalm 46:10 - He says, "Be still, and know that I am God.
Stephen enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren; hunting, fishing in the Michigan outdoors; fishing and hunting trips with his sons; camping and traveling throughout the United States; had been active in the Boy Scouts when his sons were younger; and collected and processed maple sap in his own sugar shack to produce maple syrup which he shared with many in the community.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda; his sons, Eric (Heather) Rosencrans; Aaron (Nikki) Rosencrans; his grandchildren, Caleb, Carson, Alex, Collin, Autumn, Brayden, Chelsie and Ethan; his brothers, Lawrence (Virginia) Rosencrans; James West; Edward (Susan) West; Bradly (Joni) West; Kevin West; several nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, James and Yvonne West.
VISITATION : Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 5-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES : Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ferry Wesleyan Church 2182 Main Street Shelby MI 49455. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Ferry Wesleyan Church Building Fund.
