Steven E. Walzak, age 82 of Newaygo and formerly of Lansing, passed away Saturday, December 07, 2013 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Steve was born on November 3, 1931 in Lansing, Michigan to John and Maria (Sosnowski) Walzak. Steve enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War and met and married his wife, Inja S. Song on March 18, 1952 in Pusan, South Korea at the United States Embassy. Steve had worked in the construction industry for many years until his retirement in 1993 when he moved to the Newaygo area from Lansing. Steven loved spending time with his family and loved the dogs that shared his home. His clever thinking and mechanical abilities gave him an independence which he embraced. Steve was a kind, honest, and hard working man of integrity who loved fishing, picking mushrooms, and hunting with a good dog. His respect for nature and all living things was passed to many others by himself and his family. Steven will be missed by those who knew him and loved him. Gee-whillikers! We love you, Dad and Grandpa. Steven is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Inja Sue of Newaygo; his children; Danny J. Walzak of Trenton, Michigan; Donna A. Walzak of Lansing, Michigan; Steven J. (Jennifer) Walzak of Lansing; his grandchildren, Kristin (Thomas) Cho of Northville, Michigan; Danielle Walzak of Frisco, Texas; Nikki Walzak of Lansing; Rebecca Walzak of Lansing Steven J. Walzak of Lansing; great grandson, Eli Cho of Northville. Memorial services will be announced later following cremation. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the charity of the donors choice.
