Alan Ray Redmon, age74, born on November 18, 1946, and passed away on June 5, 2021. Susan Lee (Jackson) Redmon, born- October 6, 1947, passed away – May 15, 2021.
Sue and the love of her life Alan, had been married for fifty-five years. They were successful business partners, husband and wife and parents. Businesses were built in Montague, Whitehall and Twin Lake, Michigan with several rentals and three prosperous beauty shops. After leaving Michigan for Florida in 1979, they continued their business successes with several rentals, a beautiful beach front hotel still owned by them, Gulf Sands Beach Resort in Casey Keys, Florida and a trailer park in Nokomis, Florida. Early in their partnership they split their responsibilities with Sue, a brilliant mind was the accountant and 'money' person while Al maintained responsibility for the people end of the business. They operated in this manner for over forty years, until just shortly before Sue's passing.
Susan's favorite past-times in recent years was spending time with family and attending movies…she was a movie aficionado and could name plots and actors long after seeing them. Sue and Al also loved world-wide travel, Hawaii and cruises.
Alan was a brilliant entrepreneur and risk taker in his younger years, which led him to his happy place, Gulf Sands Beach Resort in Casey Key. He rarely missed a sunset and watching for the "green flash". He loved laughing and telling stories with the many friends he made in his 42 years of business. He shared the "Dog House" by taking many of those friends for a boat ride. He was always young at heart and enjoyed riding rollercoasters with his grandchildren. Some of his hobbies included going to car shows, especially appreciating corvettes, and spending an afternoon at the movie theater.
Alan and Sue are survived by two children, Richard (Susan) Redmon, Nokomis, Florida, Steven Redmon, Montague, Michigan, five grandchildren with whom she was always a giving, loving grandparent and actively involved in their lives, Lindsy, Cassandra, Alexandria, Nicole and Stephen; and 1 great grandson, George (Lindsy). Susan is survived by three siblings, Dennis (Cinde) Jackson, Bonnie (Craig) Rizley and Sandy (Dennis) Roybal and countless cousins. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Holman and Betty (Crane-Pollock) Redmon, and his sister Lindy.
Funeral services for Alan and Susan were held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Venice, Florida, with Pastor Tom Hodge officiating.
