Sylvia J. Frederick, age 83 of Fremont, formerly of Otto Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the Twin Lake Assisted Living Home in Twin Lake. Sylvia was born on September 19, 1940 in Berrien County, the 5th of 10 children born to C. Daniel and Imogene (Holcomb) Dawson and graduated from Shelby High School in 1973. Sylvia met and later married George J. Frederick on July 27, 1957 in Ferry, Michigan and George preceded her in death June 15, 1998. Sylvia moved to the Fremont area in 2000 from Otto Township where she had been a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, reading, driving for the Amish community, camping in her younger years but especially treasured the time she spent with her family. Sylvia was a member of the Fremont Christian Church in Fremont. Sylvia is survived by her children, Kenneth (Ruth) Frederick of Byron Center; Bruce (Suk) Frederick of Melbourne, Florida; Marsha (Steve) Kenaga of Anderson, Indiana; Janet Frederick of Fremont; Joseph (Laura) Frederick of Alto; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her sisters, Norma Demaray of Twin Lake; Lydia Bair of Ferry. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her sisters and brothers, Faith, Ruth, LulaBelle, Daniel, David, Janie, Judy.
