Thelma I. Darling, age 94 of Fremont, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at her home following a short illness. Thelma was born on December 10, 1922 in Ensley Township to Luke and Elva (Topping) Cook and graduated from Howard City High School. Thelma has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where she was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church and had been active in the Fremont United Methodist Women's Group where she had been the coordinator for funeral luncheons for many years. Thelma had also been a member of the Woman of the Moose #401 in Fremont for over 50 years where she had been a bartender and cook for many years and had served as President and other offices of the Women of the Moose. Thelma had also been the manager of Ramshorn Country Club Restaurant for several years. Thelma had been active in the foster grandparents program and had enjoyed playing cards and cribbage.

Thelma is survived by her children, Ronald (Vicki) Nelson of Hixson, Tennessee; Donald (Gloria) Nelson of Fremont; Judy Nelson of Grand Rapids; Diane (Denny) Walker of Fremont; Steve Nelson of Fremont; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; her brother, Marland (Carol) Cook of Ensley Center; she was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her husbands, Keith Nelson; Harry Andree; and John Darling; her brothers, Sidney Cook; Clayton Cook; Francis Cook; Luke Cook; and her sister, Vena Bunker.

VISITATION : Monday, May 22, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Fremont United Methodist Church.
