Thomas Aaron, Bunce, age 81 of Hesperia formerly of Walkerville, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023 at his home. Tom was born on January 11, 1942 in Caro, Michigan and was adopted by Arnold Deray and Esther Amelia (Stevenson) Bunce. Tom joined the United States Air Force and served 2 tours of duty during the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star for his service as an aviation mechanic. Tom met and married Kathleen Coreen Rushton on May 11, 1990 in Wyoming, Michigan and they have been residents of the Walkerville and Hesperia area since 1990. Tom worked as an Aviation Mechanic with the Michigan Army National Guard in Grand Ledge until his retirement and then worked as a farm mechanic in the area for several years. Tom enjoyed the Michigan outdoors – fishing, hunting, boating; was a Life Member of the Hesperia American Legion and Life Member of the Hart V.F.W. Tom had also been active in the Oceana County Soldiers and Sailors Committee where he served for several years. Tom is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy; his children, Debra (Ken) Cutter of Lowell; Tammy (Todd) Clark of Homer; Rosemary (Mark) Lance of Portland; Penny (Greg) Herr of Hastings; Chris (Laura) Lewis of Linden; Timothy Lewis of Portage; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; his brother, Stanford (Diane) Draher of Reese, Michigan; sister-in-law, Nancy (John) Lipscomb of Jenison; several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ruthie Cutter and his sister and brother-in-law, Helen (Ed) Lewis. MILITARY HONORS at 2pm under the auspices of the United States Air Force and the Hesperia American Legion. FUNERAL SERVICES : 2:15pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel.
