Thomas E. Canning, age 69 of White Cloud, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at his home following a decline in his health. Tom was born on August 20, 1953 in Fremont to Thomas Marcus and Margaret Ann (Francis) Canning and graduated from White Cloud High School in 1971. Tom later attended and graduated from Ferris State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Tom started work at Gerber Products Company in Fremont in the business office and after retirement became a real estate sales agent in the area. Tom had served as the Wilcox Township Assessor and then became the Wilcox Township Supervisor where he served for 20 years until his final retirement. Tom had attended the White Cloud United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, hobby farming, golfing, watching the deer on his property and chatting with his neighbor Ron. Tom had been a little league and youth sports coach and had served on the White Cloud Public School Board for a time. Tom truly enjoyed being a dad and grandfather and was a great fan of his grandsons. Tom is survived by his son, Ed (Erin) Canning of White Cloud; his grandsons, Kobe Canning and Kaleb Canning; his mother, Margaret Tyler of Saranac; his sister, Deb Canning of Palm Springs, California. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Marcus Canning.
