Thomas E. Girard, age 61 of Hesperia, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at his home. Tom was born on October 17, 1949 in Grand Rapids to Frank and Freida (Doornbus) Girard. Tom served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and had been a production worker. Tom moved to the Hesperia area in 1994 and was an avid fisherman. Tom also enjoyed canoeing, camping, hiking, mushroom hunting, reading and gardening. Tom is survived by his sisters and brothers, Diane (Daniel) Knight of Grandville; Kenneth Girard of Newaygo; Janet (Dennis) Schmitt of Spring Lake; Daniel Girard of Grand Rapids; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. VISITATION : Friday, December 17, 2010 from 11-1pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday, December 17, 2010 at 1pm at the funeral home.
