One day shy of his 53rd birthday, Thomas R. Greer passed on from this life to the next. Tom joins his parents Paul and Jacqueline (Murphy) Greer and his niece, Michele Greer in heaven. Tom was born on June 17, 1961 at Gerber Memorial Hospital and remained a lifelong resident of Fremont, MI. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1979. Tom later earned his Master's Degree from Grand Valley State University. He started working for the Newaygo County Sheriff's Department in 1990 and started as Sergeant. He was serving as Captain at the time of his passing. Tom was awarded Corrections Officer of the Year several times which speaks to his work ethic and diligence. Tom took pleasure in working on the Centennial Family Farm, Delta Consolidated Nursery. He also enjoyed working on home projects. However, what he adored most was spending time with his grandson, Dane. Tom was a selfless, kind, witty, well respected man who was a key figure in the community and will be sadly missed. Tom is survived by his children, Mitchell Greer (fianc, Samantha Eyler) of Fremont; Maggi Greer of Fremont; grandson, Dane Greer of Fremont; special friend, Cindy Taube of Fremont; brothers and sister, Paul (Laura) Greer Jr. of Englewood, New Jersey; John Greer (Sandy Wright) of Fremont; Kathleen Greer of Westchester, New York; James Greer of Fremont; several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jacqueline Greer and his niece, Michele Greer. VISITATION : Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. MASS OF RESSURECTION SERVICES : Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11am at the All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
