Thomas "Tom" Mac Lau, age 71, of Rothbury passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Tom was born on July 4, 1948, in Muskegon to Richard and Verna Laura Ida (McQuade) Lau and later married Cindy Lou Bengtson on July 20, 2001, in Grant. Tom retired from the United States Air Force as a Technical Sergeant serving as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Repair Supervisor. Tom was very proud of the fact that he was a sixth generation Eagle Scout. He was an avid ham radio operator, and volunteered many hours at the Owasippe Scout Reservation in Twin Lake. He had served as a Michigan State Trooper in the Upper Peninsula and member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and Mongue-Whitehall Lodge #198 F&AM. Tom is survived by his wife Cindy; children, Chad, Ashley, Eric, Melissa, and Sarah; 2 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 5 nephews and a niece; and sister, Maryann Grace Tazalaar of Newaygo.
