Thomas N. Thompson, age 55 of Hesperia, passed away Monday, January 21, 2002 at the Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. He was born on August 22, 1946 in Fremont to Walter and Rosilea (Holcomb) Thompson and married Kathleen McFarland on July 28, 1992. He has been a lifelong resident of the Hesperia Area where he had been active with his family and enjoyed the outdoors. He had been a truck driver, specializing in heavy equipment transportation for Robinson Cartage in Grand Rapids where he started working in 1973. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era where he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1964-1967. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Tammy (Wes) Hoppa of Fremont; Todd (Tammy) Thompson of Newaygo; Peg (Mike) Witte of Hesperia; Mechelle Rowland of Grand Rapids; Victoria (Humberto) Garcia of North Carolina; Tony (Carmen) Quintana of Muskegon; Anne (Dave) Conley of Grand Rapids; Sally (Dave) Hayes of Hesperia; Richie Golden of Florida; 26 grandchildren; his father, Walter Thompson of Hesperia; his brothers, Dick Thompson of Hesperia; Harry (Onalee) Thompson of Walkerville; sisters, Bonnie (Jerry) Smith of Hesperia; Cindy (Mike) Gould of Hesperia; Nancy (Arnoldo) Garza of Texas; ; LuAnn Thomas of White Cloud; Randy Holcomb; Rudy (Emma) Holcomb of Texas; many nieces, nephews, cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosilea on Feb. 25, 2000 and a son, Rusty on May 31, 1985. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 26, 2002 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Pastor Mark Slagh of the Resurrection Life Church in Newaygo presiding with interment in the Volney Cemetery.
