Thomas "Tom" W. Phelps, age 71 of Hesperia, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at the Mercy Health Partners – Sherman Campus in Muskegon. Tom was born on August 16, 1950 in Muskegon to Milton C. and Cecile F. (Clark) Phelps. Tom graduated from Holton High School and joined the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. Tom has been a lifelong resident of the area where he had worked various jobs and was known for his hard work ethic throughout the years and retired as an over the road owner/operator truck driver. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and giving hints to the local young fisherman on how to catch fish at the Hesperia Dam and on the White River. Tom is survived by his sister, Sharon (Gary) Potter of Hesperia; brother-in-law, DuWayne Hill of Muskegon; special friends, Rick and Chris Johnson of Hesperia and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Cecile Phelps, his sisters, Joan Hill, Patricia Brooks, Leila Nicolet Hill and brother-in-law, Gilbert Hill. Following his wishes, no services will be held and burial will take place at the West Hesperia Cemetery in Hesperia.
