Velda Rose Wink Deters, age 82 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, May 08, 2013 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Wink was born on April 21, 1931 in Grant to John W. and Violet E. (Barber) Puff and later married Ronald J. Deters on March 24, 1951 in Fremont. Wink has been a lifelong resident of the area where she had been the head cook at the Gerber Products Company cafeteria for over 30 years until her retirement in 1993. Wink was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont and had enjoyed camping, bowling and gaming. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wink is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ron of Fremont; her children, Barry (Tana) Deters of Grand Haven; Kelvin (Ruth) Deters of Fruitport; Beverly Deters of Fremont; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; her sister, Elma Chick Deters of Central Lake, Michigan; her sister-in-law, Joan Tans of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 10 sisters and brothers. A time of visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Spectrum Health Foundation for the Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center; Juvenile Diabetes Association or the American Diabetes Association.
