Vera M. Carr, age 86 of Twin Lake, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Fountain View Retirement Home in Fremont. Vera was born on June 16, 1929 in Houghton, Michigan to Richard and Jennie (Saari) Hiltunen and later married William Carr on January 5, 1947 in Lanse, Michigan. William preceded her in death on December 19, 2006. Vera has been a longtime resident of the Twin Lake area where she had worked at the Northshore Hospital for 13 years and then later worked at Gerber Products Company for 13 years until her retirement in 1990. Vera enjoyed sewing, was a member of the Fremont Laurels Auxiliary Post, enjoyed shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. In her younger years, she and Bill enjoyed traveling and playing cards and square dancing at the Sitka Hall. Vera was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Brunswick. Vera is survived by her children, Bonnie (Jim) Slater of Holton; Rita (Jim) Booher of Hesperia; Leah (Tom) Bell of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Constance Henning on December 24, 2005 and her sister, Jean Maki in 2005.
