Verne E. Follett, age 79, of Holton passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009, at Transitional Health Services in Fremont following a 20 month struggle as a result of an auto accident. Verne was born on August 15, 1929, in Casnovia, Michigan, to Pearl and Louise M. (Grure) Follett and married Mary Amanda Dore on November 4, 1967 in Holton. He retired from Teledyne Continental after 42 years and served 30 years as a Union Steward. Verne lived a full and wonderful life serving his Country in the National Guard, serving his community as a volunteer fireman for over 30 years, as well as Holton Constable, and worked on the sidelines at the Holton football games. Verne loved travel, golf, and enjoyed bowling, baseball, snowmobiling, motorcycling, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. After retirement he worked at Northwood Golf Course cutting grass. He also shuttled cars for local car dealers and enjoyed working in his beautiful yard. Verne is survived by his wife, Mary of Holton; children, Randy (Beth) Follett of Freesoil, Roger (Dee) Follett of Hesperia, Kyle Coon of Holton, David Coon of North Muskegon, and Coleen (Rick) Hawkins of Holton; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Don (Linda) Follett of White Cloud; and sister, Lucille Hall of Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Dick; great-grandson, Aiden; brothers and sisters, Henry, Lloyd, Bernard, Cleo, Earl, Lester, Mary, and Alta Mae. VISITATION: Wednesday (today), from 5 8 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11 am Thursday at the Holton United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Selleck officiating.
