Verne Austin Williams, age 74 of White Cloud, passed away Monday, February 03, 2003 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont . Verne was born on November 12, 1928 in Petoskey , Michigan to Melvin Gaylord and Nellie Beatrice (Brown) Williams and married Marilynn Doyle May 6, 1953 in White Cloud. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Post #4170 in White Cloud; Croton American Legion Post #381 and member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555 in Fremont . Verne also served in the United States Navy during World War II. He is survived by his sons, Verne A. Williams of White Cloud; Michael G. Williams of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; 2 grand daughters; special friend Ilo Gammey of Mt. Clemens; his sisters, Doris (Jack) Hoover of White Cloud; Betty (Bill) Cook of White Cloud; his brother, Loren Williams of Geneva, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Terrance Williams and Robert Williams. Military rites were given at the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery at a later date where interment took place.
