Vernon Staley, age 84, of Fremont, MI, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30th , 2024. He was born on Tuesday, August 6th,1940, in Muskegon, MI, to the late Chester and Rosalie Staley. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1959. Vernon met the love of his life, Jeannette Zoscsak, and they married on January 7th, 1961. He became a big brother to George, Leonard, David, Michael, Roger Zoscsak and sister, Carol Heilman. Vernon went on to trade school to become a tool and die maker. He worked at Johnson Mold, Ravenna Pattern, and eventually became self employed at V+W Mold.
Vernon and Jeannette Staley have shared countless memories with each other, that will be cherished forever. He was a loving husband, devoted father to his children; Kirk Staley and Carrie (Jim) Blain. As well as a proud grandfather to Kara and James Blain, and a great great grandfather to Trey and Travis Blain. Vernon is survived by his sister, Gloria Whitlock, and lovingly remembered by nephews, Steven and Kelly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Staley. Vernon had many interests and hobbies, including family fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was known for throwing his annual August pig roast on the family riverfront property. All of his family and friends were welcome to camp for the weekend as well. In the winter months enjoyed bowling and snowmobiling. He was the president of the local snowmobile club and previous member of the Dayton Township zoning board. Vernon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Vernon's life will be held Friday, September 20, 2024, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Gerber Union Hall. Arrangements are being handled by Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel.
