Vern E. Wright, age 84 of Muskegon, formerly of Lansing, Fremont and Florida, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Mercy Health Partners Mercy Campus in Muskegon. Vern was born on April 17, 1930 in Bloomington, Illinois to Cecil and Lulu Mae (Blan) Wright and married Arlene Driscoll on May 28, 1949 in Auburn, Indiana. Vern had owned and operated the Pontiac and GMC Car Dealership in Fremont for many years until his retirement and then moved to Florida where he had a bicycle sales and repair business at the Red Barn Flea Market for several years until he moved back to Muskegon. Vern had been a member of the Lions Club, Jaycees, enjoyed camping, bowling, reading and as his eyesight diminished, enjoyed listening to books on tape. Vern is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arlene of Muskegon; his children, Marilyn (Michael) Tucker of Twin Lake; Carolyn (Michael) Royston of Lakeview; David (Jane) Wright of DeWitt; son-in-law, Claude Adams of Palmer, Alaska; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Dorothy Rhineburger of Owensboro, Kentucky; Cecil Lee Wright of St. Joseph, Illinois; Robert Wright of Phoenix, Arizona; Helen Whisman of St. Joseph, Illinois; Hazel Rael of California; Mary Wilson of Fordsville, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews. Vern was preceded in death by his daughter, Jaquelyn Adams and by his sister, Edith. Following Verns wishes, there will be no services at this time following anatomical donation to the Michigan State University. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Michigan Association of the Blind for the Talking Books Program in memory of Vern.
