Viljo Bill Willie O. Lavin, age 76 of Hesperia, formerly of Muskegon and Chicago, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at his home. Bill was born on August 26, 1936 in Poulanka, Finland to Heikki and Elsa Moilanen and later moved to Sweden where he was adopted by Erik and Ruth Lavin and moved to Chicago at the age of 15 with his family and later moved to Muskegon. Bill has been a resident of the Hesperia area since 1989 and had been a welder at Shaw Box Crane, later Lift-tech in Muskegon for 41 years until his retirement in 1997. Bill enjoyed dancing where he and met and later married his wife, Ruby K. Maynard on June 13, 1998 in Hesperia. Bill enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and camping in the Michigan outdoors; playing cards, had played the steel guitar in a band during his younger years and enjoyed welding items for his family and friends. SURVIVORS : his wife, Ruby of Hesperia; his children, Terry Lavin of Hesperia; Jim (Mari) Lavin of Hesperia; Patti (Joe) Ohrling of North Muskegon; step daughters, Sarah Maguire of Muskegon Heights; Brandy (Ed) Enbody of Greenville; 5 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; his adopted sister, Lillian Nilsson of Aurora, Colorado; his sisters Siiri Salonpaa of Finland; MariAnna Johansson of Sweden; many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his birth parents, Heikki and Elsa Moilanen; his adopted parents, Erik and Ruth Lavin; his brothers, Reino and Esko Moilanen; his adopted sister, Iona Lavin. VISITATION : Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 5-8pm and Thursday from1-2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL MEMORIAL SERVICES : Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home.
