Violet H. Allen, age 88 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Violet was born on April 9, 1927 in Texas to Bud and Jewell Conner and later married Donald Allen on June 20, 1946 in Huffman, Texas. Donald preceded her in death on April 22, 2003. Violet moved to the Fremont area in 1961 and had been a Registered Nurse at Gerber Hospital for many years until her retirement. Violet was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church where she had been active in the United Methodist Women and had also been a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. Violet enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, basket weaving, working with stained glass; had been a collector of thimbles and glassware; enjoyed traveling after retirement and visiting antique stores. Violet is survived by her children, Craig (Linda) Allen of Grand Rapids; Scott (Janet) Allen of Ann Arbor; Mark (Mary) Allen of Springdale, Arkansas; Brian (Jodi) Allen of White Cloud; Donna (Denny) Ball of Hersey, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herbert and Ellen Allen of Traverse City. Violet was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Conner. VISITATION : Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 12-1pm at the Fremont United Methodist Church (351 Butterfield Fremont MI 49412) with MEMORIAL SERVICES on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1pm at the Fremont United Methodist Church. INTERMENT : Fremont United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Fremont Area District Library or the Fremont United Methodist Church Women.
