Violet Mary Haggerty, age 97, of Fremont passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial in Fremont. Violet was born on February 23, 1922, in Grand Rapids to John and Mary (Chlebek) Osytek Sr. and married John Haggerty in 1941 in Grand Rapids. She loved reading, playing bingo, and passing out candy at the nursing home. Violet had a contagious laugh and cherished her time with family. Violet is survived by her children, Sharon (Richard) Ley of Fremont, and Joann Keggs of Hersey; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-greatgrandchildren; brother, Chester Osytek of Cedar Springs; daughters-in-law, Marlene Haggerty and Barbara Haggerty; sister-in-law, Lois Osytek; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1985; sons, John Haggerty Jr. and James Haggerty; daughter and son-in-law, Marie (Chris) McFarlin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley (Eunice) Ciolkand and Joseph (Mary Lou) Osytek; sisters and brothers-in-law, Angeline (Frank) Rivers, Cecilia (John) Gregory, and Florence (Howard) Muchler; brothers, John Osytek, Edward Osytec, and Eugene Osytek; and son-in-law, Keith Keggs. According to Violet's wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
