Virginia Lee DeKubber Smith, age 78, of Newaygo passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Virginia was born on July 23, 1940, in Grand Rapids and was preceded in death by her parents James Scott and Carrie Edna (Lewis) DeKubber. Virginia enjoyed watching the birds, was a wonderful cook, and worked for many restaurants in the area. Her greatest accomplishment was raising and caring for her family. Virginia is survived by her children, Lenny Lee Wharton of Newaygo, Travis Tyler Wharton of Croton, Randy Reed Wharton of Newaygo, and Kimberley (Benjamin) Hurst of Newaygo; grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Brittney, Jade, and Jasmine; great-grandchildren, Arianna and Gunner; sister and brothers, Edith (Ron) Bellamy, David DeKubber, Tom DeKubber, Mark (Kim) DeKubber, Martin (Debbie) DeKubber, and Greg DeKubber. She was preceded in death by her sister and brothers, Betsy Tozer, Steve DeKubber, Jerry DeKubber, and Jim DeKubber.
