Obituary

Virginia I. DeWitte, age 94 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Virginia was born on August 3, 1925 in Muskegon to George and Leona (Martin) Carrier and later married William "Bill" DeWitte on August 7, 1947 at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Brunswick. Bill preceded her in death on June 22, 1975. Virginia graduated from Fremont High School and has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where she had been a telephone operator and homemaker. Virginia was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont where she enjoyed activities and social events with the ladies of the church and always looked forward to the Bye Bells yearly luncheon. Virginia treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed cooking and baking, playing Bridge, traveling and had been a caregiver to many throughout the years. Virginia is survived by her children, Dianne (Craig) Ritsema of Fremont; Gayle ((David) Boyer of Grand Rapids; Shelley McDonald of Fremont; Toni (Steve) Miller of Fremont, Su (Jack) Church of Fremont; Bill (Dana) DeWitte Jr. of Holland; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; her sisters, Doris Johnson of Fremont and Evelyn Mater of Sparta; many nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" DeWitte Sr.; her granddaughters, Carmen Boyer on October 3, 2012 and Brooke Hile on August 21, 2013; her sisters and brothers, Vivian Bixeman, Marie Deuling, Alvin Carrier, Bill Carrier and George Carrier Jr. VISITATION : Friday, September 6, 2019 from 10-11am at the All Saints Catholic Church 500 Iroquois Drive Fremont. MI 49412. MASS OF CHRITIAN BURIAL : Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Father Peter Schafer presiding. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery.
