Vola E. Penland, 73, of White Cloud passed away Monday, January 31, 2000 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. She was born on August 23, 1926 in Detroit to Rush and Fay (Smith) Collins and married Carroll F. Penland on September 18, 1943 in White Cloud. Carroll preceded her in death on December 6, 1998. She had been a longtime resident of White Cloud where she had been a homemaker. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (James) Braeckeveldt of Fremont; son, Rod (Connie) Penland of Montague; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Nora DeLong of Muskegon; Doris (LaVerne) Nicholson of North Muskegon; brother, Robert (Beveny) Collins of Muskegon, half-brother William (Nora) Smith of Cleveland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Linsey Marie. Funeral Services were held on Friday, February 4, 2000 from the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont with Rev. Michael Krentz of the Holton Evangelical Lutheran Church presiding with interment following in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.
