Walter Ernest Dummer, age 91 of Muskegon, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Sanctuary at the Park in Muskegon. Walter was born on December 9, 1922 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the second of eight children born to Walter Peter and Helen (Mucha) Dummer and spent his early years in Milwaukee, Ludington, Muskegon and Fremont. Walter graduated from St. Marys High School in Muskegon in 1941 and following graduation, started work at the Continental Motors Company until he joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. Walter served honorably in Europe until the end of the war during which he received several campaign medals. After his discharge, he returned to Muskegon and continued his work at Continental Motors as a machinist until his retirement in 1982. After his retirement, he continued his hobbies of reading, golfing, skiing, and swimming at Muskegon State Park. Walter was also an avid attendee of many Muskegon Catholic High School and Notre Dame football games. Walter is survived by his brothers and sisters, Jean Orshal of North Muskegon; James (Vi) Dummer of Fremont; Mary Ann Perkins of Dearborn Heights; Barbara Dummer of Fremont; Gerald (Janet) Dummer of Canadian Lakes; Dale (Dianna) Dummer of Lansing; sister-in-law, Thelma Dummer of Warren; several nieces and nephews and other family members. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter P. and Helen Dummer and his oldest brother, Allen Dummer. VISITATION : Friday, November 7, 2014 from 5-8pm with ROSARY SERVICES at 7:30pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11am at the All Saints Catholic Church, 500 Iroquois Drive Fremont. INTERMENT : Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Fremont. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Wounded Warrior Project or All Saints Catholic Church.
